WHY I'M RUNNING

Liza is the sweet daughter of friends of ours. I am running for her but also for my husband, Brad Allen. He says: ‘As a childhood cancer survivor, I know what it is like to have support of organizations and people outside of the immediate support group. Families face immense financial and emotional burdens and stress during and after an illness. This event has always been a way for me to give back and pay it forward.’

About Team Liza

Liza Hope or “Wonder Liza” as she has been nicknamed is 5-years-old (a whole hand as she says). Like big sister Emily, Liza was born with a rare genetic illness called Hurler Syndrome or MPS-1, which has resulted in a bone marrow transplant and ten surgeries to date. Liza loves kitties and babies, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, pretending to cook in her play kitchen, and wearing “beautiful dresses.” She enjoys playing with her two older sisters Ella and Emily, reading with her daddy, and singing with her mommy.
