Jasper was born November 3rd, 2015, and has always been a happy and loving little boy. He enjoys making people laugh. When Jasper was 7 years old he was playing basketball at school and bumped his head. We didn’t know it at the time, but this was a blessing in disguise, as it brought attention to the tumor that was growing above his eye. We went to The Cleveland Clinic on the morning of March 31st, 2023, and that afternoon I received a call from the pediatrician that they found something in his scan.

The doctor then told me that they were getting a bed ready at main campus because they wanted Jasper admitted as soon as possible and that an oncologist would be in contact with me soon. After many tests and a biopsy, Jasper was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis also known as LCH. When they did the biopsy, they were able to remove about 95% of the tumor and they found that the tumor had caused his entire eyebrow bone to erode. Jasper had his port placed after school ended and then began treatment in June of 2023. On a recent scan they found his tumor was gone, but he will complete his treatment until June of 2024. After treatment has ended, he will go for another scan to confirm that everything is good and have his port removed. He will then have scans done every 5 years to make sure the tumor doesn’t come back.

Jasper amazes us with his positivity and love for life. He is very caring when it comes to his friends and family. He enjoys walking around the neighborhood with his friends and is excited to join a sports team after his port is removed. He has also been patiently waiting to go back to Kalahari and enjoy the waterslides!
