Why I'm Running
I have always wanted to participate in this event but it never jived with my schedule. As a cancer survivor, I know what it means to have the support of friends and even strangers so this event has always tugged at my heart strings, not to mention running “for” someone is how I got into running in the first place seven years ago so this is something I have always wanted to do. I was so excited to finally be a part of this amazing event in 2020 and am looking forward to 2021.
About Team Trinity

Trinity had a rough start in life. She spent the first 2.5 months at the Cleveland Clinic alone with only the doctors and nurses caring for her in the absence of her biological parents. She was born prematurely and along with the many issues that preemies face she suffered grade 3 and grade 4 brain bleeding. As a result of the brain bleeds and multiple cysts on her brain she developed hydrocephalus. Hydrocephalus is a condition where too much cerebrospinal fluid builds up in the brain's ventricles. As the fluid increases it puts pressure on the brain and then becomes life threatening. It is a lifelong condition and there is no cure. Treatment is brain surgery to relieve pressure by rerouting the excess fluid through a device called a shunt. Trinity's shunt runs from her brain, behind her ear, and down into her abdomen. She has had 4 brain surgeries to date and will require more in the future. Trinity also has a rare chromosome 17p13.3 microdeletion that has resulted in global delays, hypotonia, an ASD heart defect, and several other diagnoses. She has an amazing team of doctors, surgeons, therapists, and family support in place to help her reach her fullest potential.

Trinity is an affectionate free spirited 4-year-old that has a passion for life. She loves swimming, camping, and all things nature! She is passionate about animals and wants to rescue every creature that she comes across. She loves to dress up and dance to music (her favorite song is bicycle race by Queen). When she grows up, she wants to be a doctor so she can help others. I thank God every day for bringing Trinity into our lives. We watch her overcome things that most people will fortunately never have to experience during an entire lifetime. Even when Trinity is struggling, she shows strength and determination to keep overcoming. She's an inspiration and a reminder to make the best of every day.
